Canteens and bars
Hi folks, I'm translating a script where the leading character refers to what we call "whiskería", but I just wrote "Barsucho" in the term description since the meaning I need is that.
The word I'm searching for describes a low class place to drink, where drunkards and prostitutes spend their nights.
TIA!

: Hadn't seen your suggestion when I posted "sleazy dive" just now, which I messed up as I accidentally typed "dump" instead of "dive" in the heading, so have hidden it...

Thanks, James. I've heard " a real dump" as well, but I don't know how widely that expression is used.

Lisa McCarthy
: I'd opt for 'sleazy joint' too. I haven't ever heard of 'skid row bar', it's probably more a US term.

Thanks, Lisa. "Skid row" is a sad part of town; "being on skid row" is basically being down and out. Have a good evening.
