Hiding the incompatibility of terms under a wider definition is not recomended but widely in use. I may be wrong with "guarantee" but something should be there.

Faux amis I know that декада is not a decade - I can hardly imagine prepayment for anything to be required every 10 years. The tempting version of "10-day prepayment" would be another "false friend." In Russian декада means the period of 1st-10th, 11th-20th, and 21st-30th of each month. I'm just not sure how to put that into good English.

As several people have indicated, this is not a 10-year period. I'd rephrase to say due on the 1st, 11th and 21st of each month. That's not strictly a translation of the term, but the idea is there.

The question is what is meant by предоплата. If the 1st is too late for первая декада, then it should be due before the 1st, 11th and 21st.

Thank you, Paul. One question: will "due on" convey the meaning of prepayment? Can I say "due on or before"? Or is that superfluous?
