Time Magazine's "Man (now considered to be politically incorrect by Time) Of The Year" Award
Jun 19, 2021
The 1973 "Man of the Year Award", as determined by Time Magazine, was actually given to a horse, Triple Crown Winner Secretariat. More deserving, some would say, esp. horse lovers, than certain individuals who have appeared on the year-end cover of that magazine in recent years. I'm not surprised to hear that its subscriptions are way down.

While I'm sure that many of those who have been chosen since 1963 could be considered excellent translators, since the prize money is only $3,000, I have thought instead, for many years, of going after an NEA translation grant, which the last I knew could amount to as much as $25,000. The translator has to agree to certain requirements, such as traveling abroad to do research and meet with the original author. Would love to do all that again!
