This is a research study, which includes only subjects who choose to particípate. As a study participant you have the right to know about the procedures that will be used in this research study so that you can make the decisión whether or not to participate. The information presented here is simply an effort to make you better informed so that you may give or withhold your consent to participate in this research study.
Please take your time to make your decisión and discuss it with your family and fhends.
You are being asked to take part in these studies because you have a palpable breast mass and/or abnormal mammogram or ultrasound which requires that your doctor to collect breast tissue to determine whether you do or do not have breast cáncer. The first study will look at a wide protein array analysis and the other study will look at specific proteins for breast cancer. You may give one sample that can be used for both of the studies.
Both of these studies are being sponsored by xxxxxx. In order to participate in this study, it will be necessary to give your written consent.
WHY IS THIS STUDY BEING DONE?
The purpose of this study is to identify indicators of breast cancer in your breast fluid, cells and in your blood. This research is being done because we want to be able to determine who has breast cancer without having to perform invasive procedures such as biopsies and mastectomies.
HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL TAKE PART IN THE STUDY?
About 500 women altogether will take part in this study. Subjects will be recruited from xxxxx and xxxxxx.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE STUDY?
If you take part in this study, you will have the following tests and procedures:
1. Nipple aspiration is done to collect breast fluid. Nipple aspiration begins by warming your breasts with warm moist towels. You then massage your breast for approximately two minutes. Your nipples are cleansed with alcohol. A small suction cup is then placed over first your right then your left breast nipple. Suction is created using a lOcc syringe and held for 10-15 seconds, or until you feel discomfort, while you continué to massage your breast back to the front. Fluid in the form of droplets appears and is collected for analysis. Occasionally, dead skin cells block the breast ducts within your nipple. In this case, the plugs will be removed with an alcohol swab and suctioning will be repeated. Suctioning may be repeated up to three times. In order to obtain additional fluid, you will gently compress your nipple between two fingers.

Se le solicita que participe en estos estudios porque usted tiene un bulto palpable en la mama y/o una mamografía o una ecografía anormal; por eso es necesario que el médico tome tejido mamario para determinar si usted padece cáncer de mama o no. El primer estudio analizará una amplia gama de proteínas y el otro analizará proteínas específicas del cáncer de mamas. Puede donar una muestra que sirva para los dos estudios.

¿POR QUÉ SE HACE ESTE ESTUDIO?
El objetivo de este estudio es identificar si los indicadores del cáncer de mama están presentes en su fluido mamario, en sus células o en su sangre. Este trabajo de investigación se hace para poder detectar el cáncer de mama sin tener que usar procedimientos invasivos, tales como las biopsias y las mastectomías.
¿CUÁNTAS PERSONAS PARTICIPAN DEL ESTUDIO?
En total, cerca de 500 mujeres participarán en este estudio. Las mismas serán invitadas a participar por xxxx y xxxx.
¿QUÉ IMPLICANCIAS TIENE PARTICIPAR EN EL ESTUDIO?
Si usted participa en este estudio, le harán los siguientes análisis y procedimientos:
1. Aspiración de pezón para recoger fluido mamario. La aspiración de pezón comienza calentando el pecho con toallitas tibias húmedas. Luego, usted masajea su pecho aproximadamente dos minutos. Se limpian los pezones con alcohol. Luego se coloca una pequeña taza de succión primero sobre el pezón derecho y luego sobre el izquierdo. La succión se crea usando una jeringa de 10cc y se la mantiene de 10 a 15 segundos o hasta que sienta molestias; mientras tanto, usted sigue haciendo masajes al pecho de atrás hacia adelante. Aparece un fluido en forma de gotas que se junta para analizar. Ocasionalmente, hay células muertas de la piel que bloquean los conductos dentro del pezón. En este caso, se sacarán estos tapones con un hisopo con alcohol y se repetirá la succión. La succión se puede repetir hasta tres veces. A fin de obtener más fluido, usted se apretará suavemente el pezón con dos dedos.

The focus of this study is the contributions by authors of African descent to Argentine literature published during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This analysis takes as its critical point of departure the article by Josaphat B. Kubayanda regarding the creation of a minority discourse in Latin America. It is entitled "Minority Discourse and the African Collective: Some Examples from Latin American and Caribbean Literature", and defines critical parameters that are relevant to this study. This project is a combination of literary history and criticism, since it is necessary to ferret out, correct, and edit many of these texts before moving on to the analytical stage.

El eje de este estudio es el aporte que hicieron los autores de ascendencia africana a la literatura argentina con trabajos publicados entre finales del siglo diecinueve y comienzos del veinte. Este análisis toma como punto de partida crítico el artículo de Josaphat B. Kubayanda sobre la creación de un discurso minoritario en América Latina, “Minority Discourse and the African Collective: Some Examples from Latin American and Caribbean Literature” (El discurso minoritario y el colectivo africano: algunos ejemplos sobre la literatura latinoamericana y la caribeña), el cual define parámetros críticos válidos para este trabajo. Debido a que muchos de estos textos primero hay que tratar de encontrarlos, corregirlos y editarlos y recién después pasar a la etapa analítica, este proyecto es una combinación de historia y crítica literaria.
