Prof. Guillermo Badenes is an
instructor and researcher at Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, where he teaches Literary
Translation and Journalistic Translation at undergraduate level, and
Translation of the Humanities, and Contemporary English Drama at graduate level.
He holds an undergraduate degree in translation (Universidad Nacional de
Córdoba) and a BA in English (Whitman College, Washington, USA). Additionally,
he has an MA in English Literature (Universidad Nacional de Córdoba). As a
researcher, he directs the SECyT-funded (Universidad Nacional de Córdoba Department
of Science and Technology) research project “Marginalized sexuality translation
in literature: Feminist and queer textualities”. He has published different
books and articles on translation theory (such as Traducción periodística y literaria) as well as several translations
of anthologies of poetry and prose (including El viejo sofá
azul, Voces del norte and Qué onda Canadá). His next translation theory anthology
(co-edited with Prof. Josefina Coisson) is due in April 2021. As a freelance
translator he has worked for Vogue Latinoamérica magazine, BBC
International; Splendid Magazine, and Hilton. Prof. Badenes is an active
advocate for the recuperation of silenced voices in literature.
