In a world where many of us are constantly juggling multiple responsibilities, few are able to seamlessly transition between two seemingly opposite worlds – the dynamic, high-pressure environment of banking and the intense, physically demanding realm of ultra-marathons.
This is the reality for Nicki Lange, an ambitious, Oak Green-clad dreamer whose journey has taken him from the hockey field to the real estate sector, and from running in picturesque forests to conquering the most challenging races on the planet.
His story is an inspiring tale of the resilience and the perseverance required to move forward in life, no matter what path you're on.

Relief of horse and jockey
Athens, National Archaeological Museum, inv. n. Καρ. 36
Ca 550 – 540 BC
H.0.082 m. W. 0.12 m.
Bronze
Provenance: Dodona, Sanctuary of Zeus
The relief depicts a jockey and a horse galloping to the right of the spectator. The young naked rider turns his head and upper torso sideways. He holds the bridle with his left hand and the whip with his right. The hair falls on the back framing the face that comes to life with the so-called archaic smile. The horse is presented in absolute profile to run leaning on its hind legs. The forelegs are missing at a great part. The mane of the animal and the straps of the harness are rendered with detail and engravings.
The relief gives a vivid picture of the athletes of equestrian competitions, as evidenced by contemporary vase-painting. It was a decorative attachment on the neck of a bronze vessel, most likely a volute crater and is considered the work of a Corinthian metalworking workshop. The crater would be a valuable offering to the sanctuary of Zeus in Dodona, where local and later pan-Hellenic Games were held during the great festival of Naia.Attic black-figure pyxis depicting a chariot race.

Attic black-figure pyxis depicting a chariot race
Athens, National Archaeological Museum, inv. no. 18577 (E 1434)
Ca 500 – 480 BC
H. (with the lid) 0.083 m. Diam of the rim 0.072 m Diam of the base 0.088 m.
Clay
Provenance: Unknown (Empedokles Collection)
Around the body of the vase seven chariots are speeding to the right. Their charioteers wearing the typical garment of the charioteers –a long white chiton– are leaning forward, urging their horses with the reins and the kentron (whip) to intensify their effort. The striving of the horses, which are depicted in full gallop outstretching their front legs, is evident from their stretched necks, their waving manes and their half-open mouths.
Chariot racing was one of the most difficult and expensive events of the games, but also one of the most dangerous, as accidents were frequent. One such accident is depicted here: the eighth quadriga has been overturned, dragging the unfortunate charioteer to the ground. The broken and shattered parts of the chariot have been scattered on the ground, while the frightened horses have turned in the opposite direction.
