I am a Swedish-born woman with long experience of linguistic work. I got my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Stockholm in 1978. The subjects of my degree are English, Spanish and Swedish. In 1979 I graduated from the Institute of Education and after that I taught English, Spanish and Swedish at senior high schools for many years. During this period I also took more courses of English at the University of Stockholm. For some years in between my teaching years I worked at Swedish Space Corporation. I worked there as a secretary, translator, editor and teacher. I helped the technicians with translations into English and I also proof-read many of the texts they wrote. I was also the publisher and editor of their technical journal, Remote Sensing, which was distributed internationally twice a year. I took care of the whole process from contacting the writers of the articles to guiding the people printing the journal. I helped some of the writers with their translations and I proof-read all the articles. I am extremely interested in linguistic matters, I keep myself updated and I have a good linguistic instinct. As a former secretary I am used to word processing, I am accurate and punctual.
I have worked as a free-lance translator for more than a year. I have translated all kinds of texts, manuals, product descriptions and company information, web sites, questionnaires, articles and reports. I have specialised in "academic" texts, such as articles and reports on social sciences, politics, economics and finance. |
