英語 から 日本語: Christopher Doyle interview in Filmmaker Magazine fall 2005 issue
原書のテキスト - 英語 Doyles personality and professional style are also the stuff of legend. Rumor has it that he prefers to drink while working, and he has never been known to toe the company line in public. Filmmaker caught up with him in New York, where he was making one of his rare forays into American production (other work includes Gus Van Sants Psycho and Barry Levinsons Liberty Heights) with M. Night Shyamalans Lady in the Water. The purpose of the interview was to discuss his work on Three...Extremes, the Asian omnibus horror film Doyle shot Fruit Chans segment, Dumplings, about a woman who eats dumplings made out of human flesh but the conversation delightfully veered off the road.
FILMMAKER: I read some articles where you described yourself as an Asian filmmaker who happens to be pink.
DOYLE: Yeah, I just happen to have the wrong skin. The more I rub myself against the yellow, the yellower I get. [laughs] Ive often said Im an Asian with a skin disease, because I started making films in Asia, and obviously what Ive done has certain repercussions and certain resonance, and I should be very proud of that. And it just happens that Im one of the few non-Asian, non-yellow people in this world. But I think most of the people I work with think Im as yellow as they are. [laughs] And thats an honor in my mind.

原書のテキスト - 英語 European bourses started the week flat after Wall Street ended Friday on the way down.
The FTSE Euro first 100 was fractionally higher at 1,056.80 with the Xetra Dax in Frankfurt flat at 4,315.29, the CAC-40 in Paris flat at 3,878.82, but the FTSE 100 in London 0.1 per cent lower at 4,851.
The spectre of inflation returned to haunt Wall Street in the first week of the year, sending the main stock indices smartly lower, while an expected inflow of fresh capital into the market failed to materialise.
By Friday’s close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was 0.2 per cent lower on the day at 10,604.18 while the broader S&P 500 index eased 0.1 per cent to 1,186.18. The Nasdaq Composite lost 0.1 per cent to 2,088.61.
And for the first five-session stretch of the year, the Dow fell 1.1 per cent as the S&P 500 index gave up 2 per cent. The Nasdaq Composite was 4 per cent lower for the week.
US crude oil futures rose on Monday, with the market expected to test $46 a barrel on signals from OPEC that it may defend prices by cutting output. Storms hit the West Coast and Mid-Atlantic areas in the United States over the weekend and the concerns over winter heating oil supplies kept pressure on prices.
