Food & Friends prepares, packages and delivers meals and groceries to more than 1,000 people living with HIV/AIDS and other life-challenging illnesses such as breast, lung and colon cancer throughout Washington, DC and 14 counties of Maryland and Virginia. Since 1988, Food & Friends has provided food and companionship to our clients, their loved ones and caregivers.
I work in the Client Services departments and also focus as the Liaison to the spanish speaking community. I frequently translate foods & nutritional services into spanish.

Home Delivered Freshly-Prepared Meals

Monday through Saturday, Food & Friends delivers home-cooked, delicious meals, directly to our clients' homes. Each bag includes food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and meets standard recommended daily allowances. Our registered dieticians and professional chefs work closely to provide individualized services to our clients. Food & Friends offers 13 special meal plans to meet our clients’ dietary needs. Vegetarian, diabetic, child, and pureed are just a few of the special meals that are available.

Home-Delivered Groceries

Food & Friends' "Groceries to Go" service is available for individual and families who live outside our freshly prepared meals delivery area. It is also available for those clients and family members who are healthy enough to prepare their own meals. Groceries to Go is a weekly service that includes two bags of non-perishable groceries and frozen soups and entrees, prepared in our kitchen.

Nutrition Counseling & Education

Food & Friends' registered dietitians provide individualized nutrition counseling for all of our clients. We offer quarterly cooking classes specifically designed for people living with HIV/AIDS and other life-challenging illnesses. These hands-on classes are team-taught by Food & Friends chefs and registered dietitians.

Our nutritionists produce and distribute a broad range of nutrition fact sheets on topics such as food safety, the importance of protein, safe drinking water, dealing with lack of appetite and management of side effects.
