Does anyone know the exact translation of these words? (the context is a political text):
- "For the purpose of this analysis, the area of ... may be split into six ecosystem types: Marine and Coastal Zone, Arid Lowland Areas (the northern coast), Moist Lowland Areas (the southern coast), Mountainous Areas, Highland Plains, and Urban Areas"

visoravni/ neplodne nizije
My apologies for making so many entries.
Just want to add that "ravnicarska podrucja" is also a bad choice, as "ravnice" are usually fertile, while "arid" suggests the opposite.
"nizije" is more neutral and can suggest both.

visoravni; suha nizinska podrucja
highland plains = visoravni
arid lowland areas = suha nizinska podrucja
(the word podrucja has a diacritic sign in the form of small "v". I am not sure if you can see it presented, but it looks like this "č".

I have a better idea for "arid lowland areas":
suha ravnicarska podrucja
with diacritic signs:
suha ravničarska područja

"suh" is not Serbian but Croatian. The word for "arid" in Serbian is "suv". However, "arid" is mostly used to mean "neplodan" or "infertile".
