De dikkere, heldere vloeistof (lijnolie-standolie) droogt verder via zuurstofopname maar heeft een hoger gehalte aan sterkere bindingen waardoor ze beter bestand is tegen atmosferische invloeden. Het werd daarom vroeger toegepast in standwit en standgroen als dekverven.
