Discussion
Sin más info, leo "afrontamiento" aquí como "traer al frente", "hacia la parte anterior". Al modificar así la posición del pilar lateral este se convertiría (¿funcionalmente?) en un pilar medial.
Lo dicho, con más info se podría afinar el sentido que el original pretende darle a "afrontamiento".
Tal cual está no me encaja mucho la idea de aproximación -aunque la idea de fondo parece ser que se fuerza un cambio de posición del pilar lateral que se "aproximaría" a la que sería la posición original del pilar medial (pero aquí "aproximación del pilar lateral" precisaría indicar a qué se aproxima y no consta información que especifique un acercamiento en este caso del pilar lateral al pilar medial o a un virtual pilar medial).
En fin, que me sentiría bastante más cómodo con más información ;)
