Slinging
Hi all,
Hope all's well!
I'm translating a construction site welcome pack from French (France) into English (United Kingdom) and am having trouble with the section relating to safe slinging techniques.
The phrase in question is beneath an image of an item being lifted in the type of loop shown in the bottom left of this image https://www.abc-maconnerie.com/technologie/mise-oeuvre/eling...
Does anyone know the technical term for this please?
Thanks in advance for your help! :)

If you look at the picture, you'll see how it gets its French and English names.
CRAVATE
un des 3 modes d’attache d’une estrope (voir Spanset) ou d’une élingue.
{NB : en anglais on dit choke, mot à mot to choke = étrangler}

Type 1 (Polyester Triangle Choke Sling): this type is like a standard type 2 triangle sling because they both have steel triangles that are designed to prevent wear and tears

French term (edited):
Elingage en cravate
Choker hitch
I found the following YouTube videos to be really useful:

I am a lot more familiar with lifting and rigging (levage et élingage) in the nuclear power industry where élingue = sling & élingage = rigging. In this particular context, I would go with the term hitch, which would cover the élingage part of the source term.

Elingage en cravate

I think a way to tie the knot of the tie.
