Corporatization is the process of transforming state assets, government agencies, or municipal organizations into corporations.[1][2] It refers to a restructuring of government and public organizations into their administration.[2] The result of corporatization is the creation of state-owned corporations (or corporations at other government levels, such as municipally owned corporations) where the government retains a majority ownership of the corporation's stock.

O presente estudo debruça-se sobre o processo de empresarialização dos hospitais públicos em Portugal, no período compreendido entre 2002 e 2005. Neste sentido, pretende-se determinar e analisar as diferentes medidas adoptadas pelos hospitais e os impactos que daí resultaram.

This study focuses on the process of corporatization of public hospitals in Portugal in the period between 2002 and 2005. In this sense, the different measures implemented by hospitals and their impacts are determined and analyzed in this study.
