Spanish term

fibraza

Spanish to English Other Textiles / Clothing / Fashion Fabrics
Hi everyone

I have a website about cleaning materials to translate and one product is an ironing spray to make it easier to iron clothes. The website contains the following section:

"La concentración a aplicar dependerá de la naturaleza de los tejidos, así como del tacto deseado:

Para algodón fibraza, añadir de 5-15 ml."

I am not sure what "fibraza" refers to here. Any ideas?

Many thanks

Penny

Could be a solution for your translation:

"lightweight cotton fabric"

POLLERA DE DISEÑO, tela de algodón liviana como la fibraza, pero de mejor calidad.

I have found this ( I think you are translating it), maybe it could help peers to figure out the meaning. Substantially, I have just found what Taña posted and maybe she's right. Link:

del tacto deseado: -para algodón fibraza, añadir de 5-15 ml.

fibranne

I think it's fibranne fabric:

A rayon fabric having some qualities of linen.

lightweight (interlock) cotton (fabric)

really not sure.

However, I think Patricia is right (D box) in saying it's a lightweight cotton fabric

I believe you cannot use these ironing sprays on viscose or rayon or any synthetic fabric so it has to be a fairly natural or pure cotton I'd say. I suggest "cotton interlock" or woven cotton (sometimes known as t-shirt cotton or cotton jersey) because of the interwoven cotton fibres which give good elasticity

yep, there are so many different names on textiles in different places and sometimes even between manufacturers/designers. Sometimes they are synonyms and sometimes not...

Note from asker:
Thank you for your help, and thanks to everyone else as well. You have all been really helpful. I will go with woven cotten and flag it up to the client. If the client comes back with more information I will let you know.

Findings only. I wonder if they could be referring to viscose? The link below refers to "rayón a base de viscosa que da lugar a la fibraza".

Observation only:
Fibranne was nothing more than viscose and acetate rayon presented in the form of threads cut into equal lengths and gathered into "wads", similar to those for cotton or for wool. In April 1941, the General Committee for the Organization of the Textile Industry, in agreement with the Ministry of Industrial Production, officially decided to reserve the term "rayon" for 'continuos rayon threads' and adopt the term 'fibranne' for cut rayon fibres.

There is a small glossary here:

http://info.fabrics.net/fabric-facts/manufactured-or-man-mad...
Glossary of Rayon Man-made Fabric. Fibranne is French term for Viscose rayon. Velvet, although made from silk, is most often produced from the rayon fiber.
