За пять дней до нападения на СССР Гитлер издал приказ, наделявший немецких вояк правом грабить советских людей и истреблять их. При этом он взял всю ответственность за совершаемые его головорезами преступления лично на себя. И ***выкормыши*** одержимого манией крови фюрера с первых минут нападения убивали из автоматов и пистолетов беззащитных детей, женщин, стариков, давили их танками, автомобилями, вешали на площадях.
Меня интересует вот это значение "выкормыша":
ритор., сниж., неодобр. тот, кто воспитан, подготовлен кем-либо, чем-либо и действует в соответствии с полученным воспитанием, подготовкой
Некоторые словари предлагают "fosterling". Но, ИМХО, не то..

The literal meaning is slightly different, but I think that "creatures" or "minions" would come off better than a choice meaning the literal offspring.

Oleksiy, once you have the context I don't think "creatures" is in the least vague. "And the creatures of the blood-intoxicated Fuehrer" etc. In a context like that, "creatures" hints that they were created by him and conveys that they do his will, and that they are lowly and subservient. I have a problem with "spawn" and "brood", which make me think of little fish and chickens, respectively.

Also, if you search Google Books for phrases such as "his evil creatures", "his foul creatures", "his despicable creatures", etc., you will find dozens of instances in which "creatures" is used to denote an underling who has been brought into being (or brought into his current status) by some bad person, and is deployed to carry out that person's will.

"Spawn" literally means "offspring, descendants", but is always a term of contempt in such expressions as "spawn of the Devil", etc., so I think "spawn of the Führer's bloodlust" would do quite well.

: русский эквивалент "отродье" часто встречается в выражении "гитлеровское отродье" в значении "порождение" (духовное). даже чаще, "чем выкормыши". Кроме того, "spawn" передает многочисленность контингента.
