English term

policy issues in which rare disease organizations like yours are often involved

English to Spanish Medical Medical: Health Care research / patient survey
Context: research into experience /opinion of rare diseases patient organisations.
This is from a questionnaire which will be sent to Rare Disease support groups and patient organisations in Mexico and South America.

Under the sub-heading "Policy Interests" the first question is -

1. I’m going to read a list of statements about policy issues in which rare disease organizations like yours are often involved. Please tell me, on a scale of 1 to 3, the extent to which you agree with each statement,

Again I am not confident of my translation - (below)
1. Voy a leer una lista de afirmaciones sobre cuestiones de política en las que organizaciones de enfermedades raras como la suya muchas veces colaboran.

Thanks for your help

Discussion

Christine Walsh Apr 6, 2013:
I think you need to make sure of the meaning of 'policy' here, because Patricia's version seems quite feasible. Perhaps you can work it out from the context.

I think "cuestiones normativas" it´s not going to be very clear, within the National Strategies frame. In this case, "legislación" or politicas like that, is more adequated. Check this pages of the Mexican Health Ministery (they use "politicas" very, very frequently!):

"Políticas, Bases y Lineamientos en materia de Adquisiciones, Arrendamientos y Servicios (POBALINES"

policy issues To give more context - under the heading "Policy Issues" it talks about national public health strategies. health technology assessment and access to specialist drugs.
abe(L)solano Apr 5, 2013:
I think your translation is OK, I would only change "de política" by "de legislación", otherwise in Mexico people would think that the organisation is involved in real politics... ¡Saludos!

puedes eliminar "pacientes" de la primera frase. En la explicación está la frase completa.

asuntos conernientes a la póliza que suelen plantearse en organizaciones de enf raras como la suya

As the subject is insurance, I assume that policy is for póliza and not for política. Finally, it depends on the whole context.
Note from asker:
Thanks Patricia. The subject isn't insurance, rather policies as in national strategies and government initiatives aimed at helping patients with rare diseases - which is why I was confused as to use of "política" / "políticas" in this context.

Perdón, me acabo de dar cuenta de un error en mi propuesta. Quería decir "deben hacer frente".

la suya.

Preferí darle la vuelta de modo de usar el plural ("políticas"), para no dar lugar a ambigüedad semántica.
