I know that Estado Civil is typically "Marital Status" but this appears as the heading of a birth certificate from Cuba where it says:
"Republica de Cuba
Registro del Estado Civil
Certificacion de Nacimiento"
Could it be translated some other way since this refers a birth certificate? Maybe the birth is registered in the office where they keep track of marriages, etc...
