For heart patients, you wouldn't normally have an OTC drug, so this is most likely 'standard commercially available medicines'. Unless we're talking about off-the-shelf medicines like aspirin.

It's comparing a new/experimental treatment (for heart patients) against well-known ones - thinking about it, I think it means one that is OTC and another which isn't (of the standard treatment)

Rachel, any idea what point the leaflet is trying to make? Do you have the whole sentence or more context becasue currently it's not clear. Perhaps the phrase means "well established drug" ie a drug aruond for a long time so very well known

I don't think we can say over-the-counter drug/medication as this implies a drug without a prescriction. The Greek phrase implies a drug in general (with/without prescription, so I'd go with commercial drug. Good luck!
