the trend of settling accounts earlier in the fiscal year Explanation: I'm not 100% sure on this one and I have had trouble with 決算 in the past as well. This is just my opinion, anyone have any thoughts? |

prompt settlement of accounts Explanation: just a guess Method of disclosure The Company discloses promptly and fully all information required under the Securities Trading Law and other relevant regulations as well as the regulations on timely disclosure stipulated by securities exchanges using TDnet and EDnet, the timely disclosure systems provided by the Tokyo Stock Exchange and Osaka Securities Exchange. The information disclosed using these timely disclosure systems is posted on the Funai website as soon as it is published on these systems. The Company also provides full and accurate disclosure of a wide range of information http://www.funaiworld.com/company/investors/index.html -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 10 hrs (2006-11-24 00:02:03 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- 早期化を一語で訳すことは必ずしも必要ないと思います。 ここで言う早期化とは、会計期間の短縮ではなく、決算作業時間の短縮と解釈します。 Reference: http://www.super-stream.jp/report/report-no1.html |

Timely discolosure o settlement reports, or Explanation: Timely disclosure of settlement reports Or maybe Meko-san is talking about 決算短信, “Tanshin.” While further context is required, I think I’ll have to go further than just giving a translation phrase. Traditionally the Japanese settlement reports have hardly been considered to be either handy or timely, because they come almost two months after the closing days of the account settlements and are voluminous. One of the solutions that TSE (Tokyo Stock Exchange) came up with to satisfy the demand mainly from the news media for timely and handy reports is 決算短信, or a brief announcement of the most recent financial statement following the end of the fiscal year. Now quarterly/semi-annual 短信 is widely available. Meko-san seems to be talking about this 短信. Many listed companies translate the term 決算短信 into “Tanshin, ” because there seems to be no equivalent abroad—Google gives you very many “Tanshin-s.” -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 17 hrs (2006-11-24 06:43:47 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- The above "example sentnce" is an excerpt from: www.nbf-m.com/nbf/pdf/040210_03.pdf Example sentence(s):
