Discussion

Claire Titchmarsh (X) Oct 27, 2006:
In fact "rinvio a giudizio" is already in the glossary three times. If you do a check before asking it will help to avoid this kind of confusion.
Claire Titchmarsh (X) Oct 27, 2006:
This is completely the wrong answer. I hope you haven't put it in your translation and PLEASE don't put it in the glossary.
Patricia Crotty Oct 27, 2006:
Sandra, as Sylvia and Petja say below, rinvio in this case has nothing to do with postponement

to commit someone for trial, to indict

from both Garzanti and Codeluppi

If it were "rinviare una causa" I would agree that it could be a postponement or continuance, but not in the case you've given.

bring to court

I found the explanation in Russian at the site below, it translates as "bring/transfer a case from the Committee of Inquiry into Court", and "rinviare qd a guidizio" means "bring someone to court".

I also thought of "postpone" at first, as this is what rinviare usually means, but since I found the exact phrase translated in a different way...
Peer comment(s):

agree Sylvia Gilbertson : Yes, Petja, you're right. We are definitely NOT talking about a postponement here

Well, I really don't think that's the case, since I see your answer is similar to mine and you have checked 2 dicts, I was surprised the postpone answer was picked, that's not the right translation...
