Hi guys, Supervertaler for memoQ is now available for memoQ 11 and 12. It's the memoQ counterpart of Supervertaler for Trados: an add-in that gives memoQ an LLM-based MT engine built around your own terminology, your own instructions and the segments you confirm.

See more Hi guys, Supervertaler for memoQ is now available for memoQ 11 and 12. It's the memoQ counterpart of Supervertaler for Trados: an add-in that gives memoQ an LLM-based MT engine built around your own terminology, your own instructions and the segments you confirm.
I'm a working translator and use it on my own jobs. If you already use MT or AI in memoQ, the aim is to make it follow your terminology and your decisions rather than its own. If you don't use AI at all, this isn't for you, and that's fine.
What it does
• MT suggestions in the grid. Supervertaler works as an MT engine in memoQ, using Claude, GPT or Gemini with your own API key. Its suggestions appear in Translation results like any other MT hit, and Pre-translate works too. Inline tags are kept. Supervertaler itself never confirms a segment; that stays with you.
• It learns from what you confirm. Set it as your self-learning MT and the segments you confirm are passed on with later requests in the same document: settle a term in segment 3 and segment 40 uses it.
• Your terminology. Supervertaler's termbases highlight terms in the source and list them in Translation results, and the same terms are sent with each request, forbidden terms included. memoQ doesn't pass its own term bases to third-party MT add-ins, so this fills that gap.
• Your instructions. Prompts come from a library you can edit. AutoPrompt can draft one for a project from the document, with a table of key terms, for you to check before you use it.
• Client notes. Memory banks hold notes per client – brief, style, terminology – and send them with every request.
• Figures. FigureLens takes the images out of your documents and has them described, so the model knows what the drawings show.
• Optional: Claude Desktop or ChatGPT. An AI assistant can read the document open in memoQ and prepare translations, which reach the grid only when you run Pre-translate.
memoQ gives add-ins no panel of their own, so prompts, termbases and settings live in a small companion window, the Supervertaler editor.
Confidentiality
Your text goes straight from your computer to the AI provider you choose, under your own account, and nowhere else. Whether you may send a client's text to an AI provider at all is a matter for your agreement with that client. The source code is public on GitHub, so you can check exactly what leaves your machine.
The details
• memoQ 11 and 12, on Windows.
• 14-day free trial, with no sign-up and no card. After that, €20 a month or €200 a year, and the same licence covers Supervertaler for Trados.
• It is not yet signed by memoQ, so memoQ may ask once whether to load it. I'm working on getting it signed.
