Spanish term

PCV

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general) Discharge summary
The following appears at the start of a discharge summary (location not indicated) for a patient who underwent a TAVI procedure on 21/12 and suffered a stroke on 23/12:

"Traslado desde PCV a día 29/12."

There are no further references to "PCV" in the report.

I have considered "Patología Cardiovascular" (Cardiovascular Diseases) and "Programa Cardiovascular" (Cardiovascular Program), but I'm not at all sure.

Can anyone help?

Cheers,
John

Douglas Davies (asker) Apr 28, 2021:
Further context required. I agree that further context was required for this and just included a comment to that effect with the options.
Shilpa Baliga Apr 21, 2021:
I agree that we need more context But I think it very likely to be a place. When I saw the P, I immediately thought "planta de", but I think that is understood, and it refers to the "PCV room/floor/area/department", whatever PCV is here.
Cristina Zavala Apr 21, 2021:
You have a point. The best option could be to ask the client, if possible.
"Desde..." could mean after an event, or from a place
Joseph Tein Apr 21, 2021:
not enough information I'd say there's really not enough information to make a certain decision about what this could mean. PCV could stand for the name of a hospital, but you say that the location is not indicated. Patología Cardiovascular is a good guess, but to me this term refers more to the type of illness; I don't find this as the name of a hospital department or service when I do a (quick) Google search. (Same with Patologia Cerebrovascular -- I don't see this as the name of a department, although it's possible.)

Patología Cerebro Vascular

This is the abbreviation given here.

neutral philgoddard : It can't be this, because it says "traslado desde".

Cerebrovascular Program

Without more context, it's a bit difficult, but this may be of help -

Programa Cerebro Vascular (PCV)

"Contar con Resolución Sanitaria para otorgar estas prestaciones y contar con capacidad resolutiva para cumplir con los procesos clínicos inscritos, relacionados con el Programa Cerebro Vascular (PCV) relativos al Ataque Cerebrovascular."

https://www.bcn.cl/leychile/navegar?idNorma=1026208

"The UMass Neurosurgery Cerebrovascular Program provides state-of-the-art care to patients with disorders affecting the blood vessels of the brain and spinal cord (i.e. the cerebrovascular system). "

https://www.umassmed.edu/neurosurgery/clinical-programs/cere...

"CEREBROVASCULAR PROGRAM
Treating disorders that affect the blood vessels of the brain and spinal cord—the cerebrovascular system—requires highly specialized expertise. That’s exactly what you’ll find at UMass Memorial’s Neurosurgery Cerebrovascular Program... Working together, our cerebrovascular neurosurgeons and interventional neuroradiologists treat a wide range of conditions affecting the brain and spinal cord, including: Aneurysm, Arteriovenous fistula, Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), Carotid artery disease, Cavernous malformation, Intracranial hemorrhage, Stroke"

Mechanical pressure ventilation

From the context, I understand that the patient had a surgery and needed oxygen theraphy. There are several kind of oxygen therapies and I detail all of them below in Spanish:

* Ventilación Controlada a Presión. PCV.
* Ventilación con relación I:E invertida.
* Hipercapnia permisiva.
* Ventilación mandatoria minuto. VMM.
* Ventilación con liberación de presión. APRV.
* Presión bifásica positiva en la vía aérea. BIPAP.
* Ventilación de alta frecuencia. HFV.

Therefore I think my proposal is the best translation, but I am not English native speaker so you you double check my term once understood.
Example sentence:

In pressure-controlled ventilation, the ventilator maintains a set airway pressure for a given inspiratory time.

Pressure-controlled ventilation (page 454) is the preferred technique in most centres to avoid alveolar overdistension.
