Spanish term

Asistido por I/M

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general)
I'm translating a birth certificate issued by an Ecuadorian hospital, which contains the initials "I/M" as what appears to be a professional title or role.

Here's the context:

PARTO NORMAL, EL 12 DE MARZO 1987, ASISTIDA POR I/M RODRÍGUEZ, COMO RESULTADO SE OBTUVO UN NACIDO VIVO DE SEXO MASCULINO... EL NACIDO VIVO FUE ASISTIDO POR I/M GARCIA

Any help understanding this would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!

PS I changed the last names to protect the innocent ;-)

I think it could be "interno médico", but I can't pin it down. It seems to be a medical qualification or position, like Dr but not Dr.
