Could the asker provide the original German term: Aufhebungs- or Auflösungsvertrag? It's no good everyone speculating when this is a bog-standard contract in Germany-only.

Giovanni, No this is how the agreement starts out...I know that this is basically saying that the two parties have agreed to terminate the contract/agreement, but I am looking for a more formal way to state this basically here.........

I've never seen this before. Customarily, to terminate an agreement, one of parties notifies the other about their intent to terminate with sufficient notice. Didn't they have any such clause in the original contract?

This isn't ambiguous, the way "termination of contract agreement" is, because "termination of contract agreement" could be read two ways:
termination of... <contract agreement> (wrong)
<termination of contract>... agreement (correct)

(When I first read "termination of contract agreement" I read it the wrong way. Only looking at the Spanish clarified that the other reading was meant.)

As an alternative, if you prefer a more literal translation, I guess you could use "contract termination covenant" or "contract termination agreement", but none of these would be my preferred choices.

(German-modelled) Severance or Termination Agreement

If a DE/ES trans. of Aufhebungsvertrag = termination agreement; if of Auflösungsvertrag = severance (package) agreement.

These virtually redundant contracts exist neither in Austria, nor in Switzerland as the original Contract of Emplyoment or Director's Service Contract usually provide for termination matters.
