Does cada uno = each person? I don't understand the "se vino...aspectos" part...

Discussion

Elizabeth Medina Jun 8, 2008:
...and the parallel development of the social-clientelist State in L.A. This is how I understand this text, though I just barely have enough context to figure out what the problem phrase (en lo sucesivo) means. Hope this helps...
Elizabeth Medina Jun 8, 2008:
With this (the lack of elemental safety/guarantees in L.A.) the (people's) demands spread too many other domains. The totality of each citizen's existence came to be addressed by populist discourse as a result of the spread of Xtian democracy in Europe
Patricia Rosas (asker) Jun 8, 2008:
I need to ask the author about this before I grade. I know that the two forms of State aren't rolled into each other, so I'm tending to read it like this:

... Thus, the demand for security extends to many other arenas [dominios]. Each of these [dominios] has progressively come to include all those, or almost all those, aspects [meaning aspects of security], due to the spread of the Welfare State in Europe and the social-clientelist State in Latin America [because these forms have led to public insecurity].

each individual's existence was subsequently (encompassed, enveloped in the sphere of influence of)

One option. En lo sucesivo = subsequently, later

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "My apologies to you and Sandra and Marcelo for not grading this sooner! I still haven't gotten word back and we aren't working on the final draft of the translation for another few weeks, so I'm going to close it now. Like Miguel, I like "encompassed." Thanks to everyone for your help!"

progressively, both of them would come to be rolled into one in every, or almost every aspect.

“would come to be rolled into one in every, or almost every aspect”.

Every one, or almost all aspects of (Estado benefactor y Estado social-clientelista)... would come to be rolled into one.

with (the passage of) time, they came to...

...be/encompass one, in all, or nearly all, aspects"

Another option might be "ended up becoming/being one..." :-)
