Spanish term

cabezas de beat

Spanish to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
This is from a text about an Argentine artist who made collages using posters and billboards he found in the street:

Sus obras se caracterizaron por un fuerte dinamismo en la composición y una primacía del color y de los contrastes tonales. Además de trabajar con fragmentos de color, el reverso con restos de la materia arrastrada de los soportes o la superposición de cabezas de beat, faraón o seres celestiales de Fray Angélico, el artista utilizó la grafía de los carteles.

Thanks!

Heads Maybe he means "the heads of beats, pharaohs and Fray Angelico's celestial beings" with "beats" referring to "beatniks" i.e. Kerouac and co. Just an idea...I do think the "cabezas" may include the "heads" of all three.

Re: Beat heads I agree that it's a little odd to mix "beat heads" with pharoahs and Fray Angelico's celestial beings. Maybe he's just very ecclectic? I googled "pharoahs Fray Angelico" and nothing came up...

I think James might be onto something...

Name of artist? The link between electronic music, pharoas and Fray Angélico seems a bit of a leap. I wonder if it might be a typo for beato, as in "il Beato Angelico" (Italian name for Fra Angelico).

You will probably know yourself but it would be helpful to see a sample of the artist's work, even if just to sate one's curiosity...

Here "cabeza de beat" refers to "beat heads", i.e. people who are obsessed with all forms of the electronic genre of music.

Could that be the case?

See link. I think he's just giving examples of different characters or personalities that appear in his work, for example these "beat heads" which I imagine have a techno/electronic aesthetic. Not much on Google though, in Spanish or English.
