Det er rikelig med mitoser og noe enkeltcellenekroser. Epitelet viser dels sammenflytende krypter som danner kribriforme elementer som synes å vokse ekspansivt, men som ikke viser sikker infiltrerende vekst. Stroma rundt en del av kjertlene er betydelig reaktivt. Biopsiene er også overfladiske og fremstiller i liten grad overgang mot underliggende stroma. Funn er således ikke entydig diagnostisk for adenokarsinom.
