Norwegian term or phrase: offentlig tilbakelevering
Hi - I'm looking for an appropriate equivalent for offentlig tilbakelevering,

Tvungen tilbakelevering appears previously in the text - are they synonymous?

Thanks for your help!

quote from webiste....Once your vehicle has been repossessed,
your creditor may decide to either keep it as
compensation for your debt or resell it in a public
or private sale. In some states, your creditor must
let you know what will happen to the car. For
example, if the car will be sold at public auction,
state law may require that the creditor tell you the
time and place of the sale so that you can attend
and participate in the bidding. If the vehicle will
be sold privately, you may have a right to know
the date of the sale.

Example sentence(s):
  • The repossession of vehicles is controversial and corrupt in many states, even Idaho and very likely in New York, excessive fees and collusion.

formal repossession in public

Explanation:
Frivillig tilbakelevert > repossessed voluntarily
Offentlig tilbakelevert/avholdt forretning > formally repossessed 'in public'/so with record of 'ceremony' or of action taken

tvungen > forced or forcible repossession

Example sentence(s):
  • USA: There is no "voluntary restitution." Sometimes there is a "voluntary repossession" where you voluntarily give the car back rather than making them come out and take it from you.
  • Replevin is the legal action you can use to get your personal property back when someone has wrongfully taken it and refuses to give it back
