(literally) I am drunken : meaningless words of exuberance to introduce the song Explanation: The first few words are not really Hindi words, these are rather Persian (Farsi) words which are sometimes also used in Urdu, and Hindi as well. These words play just an ornamental role here in this song...expressing the joyful state of the singer. The words have been used for their musical/rhythmic qualities too, and not for literal meanings. Nevertheless, let me explain some meanings: mast=> drunken, intoxicated, in a wonderful state -am => suffix added to mean "I am" dar => in (but it has no literal meaning here) rind => libertine, vagabond, drunkard etc. vind => is just for euphony after 'rind', as we say dil-vil, pyar-vyar. I hope this much should address the question sufficiently. Any comments are welcome. |
