German term

futterfest

This is from a list of specifications for outlets selling unusual animals. I am having trouble finding the English translation of "futterfest" and would appreciate any suggestions.

Many thanks

Ian

Discussion

I've seen it used in lots of ways... I don't think it has to mean just milk.
Non-ProZ.com Oct 26, 2004:
Can't use weaned While proof-reading, I realised that I can't use "weaned" here as it only applies to mammals.

old enough to feed themselves

Below is a site giving a definition of the word, and I think this is how it would be expressed in English.

Futterfest - zum Sterben zu schade!

agree Eckhard Boehle : "parrots ... able to feed themselves / can feed themselves" you can find by the hundreds via Google

Yes; I guess you could add "properly" in there with advantage

neutral Cilian O'Tuama : sorry for being a spoilsport, but you've gotta differentiate between them and those who "selbstständig fressen"
