German term

bei gleichem Untersuchungsaufwand

Any ideas? Thanks everyone!

Peer comment(s):

agree Ford Prefect : Implication is the new technique doesn't "cost" more, (in terms of - cash?/time?) than the old technique - great since a lot of medical advances provide marginal benefit at huge cost. This response says what the ST says and neatly covers the ambiguity.

Maybe rephrasing would work?
...to improve the identification of colon polyps without necessarily increasing the scope of examinations

without the need for additional diagnostic procedures

I think you run into this issue with "Aufwand" in many contexts in DE-EN translations. I see it in the legal context frequently. It is a bugbear that almost always requires some creative thinking, and this is only a suggestion. So, in my suggestion, the sentence would read something like: to improve detection of polyps of the colon without the need for additional diagnostic procedures.
