Aren't we looking for the English term to be used where the German is...Videoclip?

Clip in English usually refers to an excerpt from a longer work (e.g., a clip from a feature film is usually just a sequence from the film). Clip is NOT used in English to refer to a video to accompany/promote a piece of music. That's a (music) video or promo, unless I'm very much mistaken.

promotional clips/video clips

"Videoclips" in German are called those clips made for/from (pop) songs (like on MTV). "Promotion Clips" (Werbespots) are used to promote products etc..
