German term

abnehmen oder bezahlen

German to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s)
I wanted to double check if this is one of those times where a German "or" is sometimes translated as an English "and". Can you please advise which you would go with here?

Firma Y is supplying Firma X with particular gases.

------------
Firma X wird im Tagesmittel nicht weniger als 50% der jeweiligen Vorhaltemenge fuer Gas X und Gas Y abnehmen oder bezahlen (Mindestabnahmen).
------------

Thanks in advance!

take or pay

In my experience "take or pay" is the usual formula.

Such contracts are even called "take or pay" contracts

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you to all who looked at this. Thanks trans@gees for this phrase - a great help! Thanks EdithK too - very close to this one, but I just felt trans@gees advice re "take or pay" contracts helped me that little bit more in this instance."

take delivery of and/or pay

should be bzw., so even if they do not take delivery of the gas, they still have to pay for the minimum quantity.
