adaptive cruise control

Different manufacturers have different names for this, some of them trademarked. But this is a generic term:

"Enter adaptive cruise control (ACC), a smarter version of cruise control that changes the speed of your car to match the car in front of you. It uses radar to lock on to the cars in front of you and keep your car a safe distance away."

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

I have found this on various automotive websites in the UK
Example sentence:

Automatic distance control is an advanced driver assistance system to actively help motorists maintain a defined distance from the vehicle ahead.

Often also referred to as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), the system builds on the functionalities of the cruise control system, which is designed to automatically maintain a specified vehicle speed
