Hi, any help with the following would be appreciated: thanks in advance

a transmission ratio applied to the overall transmission ratio of the main gearbox
Gear trains are multiple sets of gears meshing together to deliver power and motion more effectively than can be accomplished by one set of gears.
The equation for the overall ratio of the compound gear train is the product of the two individual ratios...

It's like the gears on a bicycle where you have a number (mostly two) gears at the front (where the pedals are) and some other number of gears (three, five, seven ...) at the back (at the wheel).
With two gear rings at the front you double total number of gears and with an appropriate gear ration you may also double the total gear ratio.
