French term
fermeture sur un redon
French to English
Medical
Medical (general)
surgery
This is in a surgical report which I am translating - I would just like some confirmation of the meaning of this phase in the following context:
"Suture du muscle tibial antérieur par une série de points en croix;
Many thanks in advance.

Thank you Lionel.

: You don't close a wound "with" a drain, but "over" one. A basic mistake.

with is coherent with insertion as mentioned Liz. It is not just the skin.

: yep, a "redon" is a suction drain (not necessarily of the brand Redon) - wound closure (not just skin) - with insertion of suction drain/It's the skin and subcutaneous tissue being closed - not the muscle in fact.

: Why skin closure ? It's a muscle//No but as pointed out by Sue, all the wound should be closed, in particular here the muscle. Not only the skin if you don't want oedema; just a "basic mistake" :)
