Discussion

chris collister Apr 23, 2010:
battering from waves No, there ain't much context. However, "assaut" is quite a strong word, so it's almost certainly something to do with the destructive power of waves. One of several reasons wave energy devices have yet to take off is the difficulty of engineering them for the "100 year wave", which has super-destructive potential.
Martin Cassell Apr 22, 2010:
contexte ! d'accord avec Ségolène. such a spectrum of possible ways of rendering it, all depending on context.
chaplin Apr 22, 2010:
j'ai pensé à wave attack
chaplin Apr 22, 2010:
pour moi il s'agit plutôt de l'érosion causée par les vagues et non l'énergie ne elle-même
chaplin Apr 22, 2010:
Un peu plus de contexte aiderait chère amie!
Tiens te voilà dans l'environnement maintenant! Bonne chance!

the pounding of the waves

"Higher" authorities are, finally, restrictive of original thought, conservative, protective and imbued with a wish to place in aspic. Without freedom of thought, we are nothing. Says I.
How incredibly boring to be offered some other source which has NOT been proven to be at all universally definitive!
Who knows here, where we apply our best efforts with few points of reference.
