Select forward gear, check all around and move forward until the legs of the lift truck are very near but not touching (Kissing) the upright foot protector.
Apply the brake (if applicable) and select neutral gear.
Move the mast forward until the heels of the fork-arms touch the pallet / load.
Ensure you do not rub the pallet boards as the forks enter as this could cause the racking to become unstable.
Once the load is heeled, lift the load and draw the mast back (Reach the mast in) as far as it will go to clear the compartment.
