English term
Double Entry Accounting or Double-sided Entry
English to Spanish
Bus/Financial
Hi there, the expression reads: "The system will automatically raise double-sided entries to post transactions between companies, this ensures that both the whole General Ledger as well as the ledger for each of the affected companies remain in balance"
Does anyone know what the standard Spanish equivalent is for the Accountancy term "double entry or double-sided entry/ies" and the difference between the General Ledger (Libro Mayor) and just any ledger (?).
If you can help, I'll be most appreciative, you may also respond directly to [email protected]
Many thanks in advance!

Contabilidad por partida doble
I would suggest that Libro Mayor is the Ledger in which the transactions posted for every account are concentrated or summarized, i.e. the information that is posted for every account for which there are individual "journals". By the way, the person credited (alleged) with the invention of double entry accounting is a monk, Abbot Paccioli. It means that for every debit in one account there should be a debit in a corresponding account, hence "patrtida doble".

Sistema de Contabilidad por Partida Doble - Asiento de Doble Entrada
I fully agree with previous answers. I'd like to add one more suggestion:"Sistema de Contabilidad por Partida Doble" for "Double-entry Accountancy" and "Asiento de Doble Entrada" for "Double-sided Entry". The first one refers to a registration system whereas the second refers to an "entry" in a book made under that system (entry:asiento, entrada, registro, etc.)
Good luck.
Good luck.

In the mos technical expression this means "asientos de contrapartida"
In this case, the text is about an accounting system that has the capability os posting transactions between companies, this means that if you post a transaction of sales for a Company A, the same transaction means a Purchase for Company B, and the system post both transactions.
In the other hand, the difference between General Ledger and the other ledgers is that in the General Ledger, all transactions are posted, and in the other ledgers you post the transactions for every account, i.e customers, suppliers, etc.

Partida doble.
It's the system that lets you know which side is giving (debiting) or which side is receiving (crediting).

un apunte de cargo y otro de abono
Hi! I'm Antonio, from Spain. The following is a rather free translation as I would write it in muy own language. I was a company manager for some 18 years and before that I used to be an accountant. So I should know. Presently I am a translator because I find that translating is fun. Let somebody else make the decisions and I'll just read them and reword them!
“El sistema generará de forma automática dos apuntes simultáneos de cargo y abono* para registrar transacciones entre compañías. De esta forma, tanto el Libro Mayor como la cuenta de cada una de las empresas afectadas quedan cuadrados”.
"El sistema genera ... " is also possible, as this is a description of how the system works.
*según el sistema de partida doble, inventado por el monje italiano ese.
