You can also say "úplavica cukrová" or "cukrová úplavica" but "cukrovka" is absolutely sufficient both in Czech and Slovak. If you really need to specify the type, I'd stay with the original "diabetes mellitus"

There is a way to read it: it goes like that "dee-ah-beh-tehs"

this word has become so common in Czech as well as Slovak that we have also adjusted the pronunciation and we read it as if it was a Czech/Slovak word
