In extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), blood is pumped outside of your body to a heart-lung machine that removes carbon dioxide and sends oxygen-filled blood back to tissues in the body. Blood flows from the right side of the heart to the membrane oxygenator in the heart-lung machine, and then is rewarmed and sent back to the body. This method allows the blood to "bypass" the heart and lungs, allowing these organs to rest and heal.

Man nesen bija līdzīgs jautājums par «gridded ion thruster», kur «režģotais jonu dzinējs» īsti neko nepasaka. Ceru drīzumā saņemties rakstiņam «Tulkotājas stāstiņos».

No  Sandra Kuple: Man šķiet, ka bija jāveido termins pēc būtības, nevis tikai atsevišķiem vārdiem jāpievieno lokāmas galotnes, lai gan tā tiek darīts ļoti bieži.

  -> Šāds medicīnas termins latviešu valodā ir sastopams terminu datubāzē (AkadTerm) un speciālajos tekstos. Tas ir pareizs. Vienīgi šīs medicīniskās iekārtas nosaukumā trūkst vārds "iekārta, aparāts, sistēma" vai tml. (man norādīja Latviešu valodas aģentūra).
