La tua versione mi piace, ma proporrei un paio di cambiamenti:
"(Dove) ci sono mosche nere così grosse che riuscirebbero a portarsi via un bambino piccolo. Purtroppo, però, per quanto ci provi non riesco mai a convincerle a prendersi il mio per un pomeriggio, così che possa rilassarmi e farmi un margarita."
