“Dogleg”
Definition: This term refers to the direction of an individual golf hole. Many holes are straightaway from the tee box to the green. However, some holes bend, usually near the middle, in one direction or the other. A hole that bends is called a dogleg. If the hole turns to the left, it is called a "dogleg left." If it turns to the right, it is called a "dogleg right." The change of direction of a dogleg usually occurs near the point where a good drive is expected to land. A hole that bends twice - first one direction, then another - is a "double dogleg" (only par-5s are long enough to be true double doglegs).
“Par”
Definition: A number assigned to an individual hole and to the full collection of holes on a course that represents the expected number of strokes it should take to play each hole. The value assigned to represent par is always comprised of two putts and the number of strokes it should take to reach the green. For example, a par-3 hole is short enough that one shot is expected to put you on the green, with two putts to follow. The length of a par-4 holes is sufficient to require two shots to reach the green; a par-5 is deemed lengthy enough to require most players to need three shots to reach the green.

Αν κάνεις μετάφραση κάποιου μυθιστορήματος και δεν χρειάζεται να διδάξεις γκολφ στους αναγνώστες με Σ.Μ. και τα τοιαύτα, στο eagle on the 18th θα πεις περίπου \"έβγαλε τη 18η τρύπα με δυο χτυπήματα λιγότερα\" κι ετούτο \'δώ, \"είναι μια κούρμπα / μια καμπύλη διαδρομή που βγαίνει κανονικά με τέσσερα χτυπήματα\".
