In addition, the National Service Framework (NSF) for Older People, published on 27 March 2001, set new national standards and service models of care across health and social services for all older people, whether they live at home or in residential care or are being looked after in hospital. The standards within the NSF highlight the need to promote an active and healthy life for all older people (standard 8) and that older people with mental health problems need access to integrated specialist services (standard 7).
