English term or phrase: Heel pressure
Heel Pressure
Heel pressure is defined as the pressure remaining in the Gas Transport Module (GTM) vessel at the end of a decant process when employing a pressure transfer method (i.e. a scavenging pump is not used).
This remaining gas is the result of a limitation imposed by the physics of using pressure transfer to remove gas from a vessel into a system.
This remaining gas represents product that the operator paid to transport from the Mother Site to Daughter Site (via fuel and personnel costs), but are not delivering to the customer to generate revenue.
The end result is that the density of the gas remaining in the GTM after decant has finished is a commercially significant factor to consider in the overall system operation.
The pressure reducing station controls minimize trailer heel pressure as much as possible.
