"Is there a reason as to why you want to fit the big block, or is it just bragging rights? I've owned both big & small blocks over the years & I'd never go back to a big block again. With the correct matching of parts & tuning those parts, you can get a small block to gouge the eyes out of a lot of big block cars, they'll handle better due to less weight hanging over the front end of the car & will return good mpg."

Discussion
1 - units are not the same:
gallons and miles are not going to give the same figure as litres and kilometres
2 - what is measured is different:
-- miles per gallon shows the distance traveled with a given quantity of fuel => a higher figure shows a better performance;
-- kilometres per litre is the inverse way of measuring fuel consumption: shows the quantity of fuel needed to cover a fixed distance - usually 100 km => a lower figure shows a better performance.
Also, a full sentence would make it clear what the author of the ST had exactly in mind when talking of "return on.."
