English term

Living things, living matters, living creatures, living organisms

Non-PRO English Science Science (general)
Which is the right word to indicate small animals or plants living in a forest or field?
The word should be used in a school text book for a elemetary school.

I made some mistakes before so I wrote it again. I am sorry for this.

Any living thing. Organisms include humans, animals, plants, bacteria, protozoa and fungi.

living organisms

Well if it's for animals AND plants living organisms would make more sence IMO.

If you are specificlly talking about animals though, living creatures would be the best.

Alos if this text book is for very young children you just may want to use \"living things\"

living creature

as these animals are live, so thing or matter are not appropriate.and also we can't say they are animal because they are too small, so the best word, I think, is living creature.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Dr Sue Levy (X) : OK for animals, but not for plants :-)

neutral Maria Chmelarova : living creatures, not in science wording...
