Spanish term

nauyaca (see explanation)

Spanish to English Science Zoology
nauyaca is often used as a fairly general term, but I need a translation for a venomous snake in the central Mexican mountains. The dictionary I have says it is Bothrops atrox or common lancehead but according to my research that appears to be a Brazilian or Costa Rican coastal snake.

agree John Speese : Yes, in Engish we also use the French-Creole name fer-de-lance for this snake, as far as I know there is no other name in English.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks for all contributions. Fer-de-lance and lancehead appear to be synonyms, so I went for the entirely unscientific method of which one gets more hits off internet, and fer-de-lance won."
