The term "accrual" can also be used as a noun, not just as an adjective. An accrual is the recognition of an expense (or revenue) and the related liability (or asset) that is caused by an accounting event, frequently by the passagge of time, which is not signaled by an explicit cash transction. For example, the recognition of interest expense or revenue (or wages, salaries, or rent) at the end of dthe peeriod, even though no explicit cash transaction is made at that time. Hope this helps.
